High-Performance Refrigerated Vehicle Insulation Panels
An insulated bulkhead is a thermal partition system installed inside refrigerated truck bodies. It is designed to divide different temperature zones within one vehicle, ensuring precise temperature control and preventing cold air leakage.
It is widely used in modern cold chain logistics where multi-temperature transportation is required.
- High-efficiency zoning: Enables multiple temperature zones within a single vehicle (with a temperature difference of up to 35°C), meeting the diverse requirements of cold chain transport.
- Significant energy savings: Reduces refrigeration unit energy consumption by over 30%, significantly lowering fuel and electricity costs.
- Industrial-grade quality: Constructed from aerospace-grade XPS composite materials, featuring a lightweight design and an exceptionally long service life of three years.
Types of Insulated Bulkhead
We supply different types of insulated bulkheads based on structure and application requirements:

Standard Insulated Bulkhead
The standard insulated bulkhead core uses XPS (extruded polystyrene) insulation board. Through a special composite process, PVC waterproof fabric, EVA cushioning layer, and XPS foam board are laminated into an integrated panel.
This structure not only provides excellent thermal insulation performance, but also significantly enhances the overall structural strength of the panel. It ensures a smooth surface, strong insulation performance, resistance to water absorption, and no shrinkage over time.

- Stainless Steel Screws
- The screws and fittings used in the insulated bulkhead are made of 304 stainless steel, ensuring long-lasting durability and corrosion resistance. The bottom is equipped with a wear-resistant plastic plate, providing anti-kick and anti-impact protection for enhanced durability in daily use.
- High-Quality Sponge Edge Sealing
- High-quality sponge sealing strips are applied on both sides and the top of the bulkhead to ensure a perfect airtight seal between the panel and the truck body, effectively improving insulation performance.
- Edge Fabric Material
- The black edge fabric is made of export-grade Oxford fabric commonly used in luggage manufacturing. It features a smooth surface, strong wear resistance, and long service life. Its low friction resistance also makes installation easier and more convenient.
- Available Thickness Options
- The product is available in two thickness options: 8.5 cm and 5.5 cm. The 8.5 cm version offers stronger thermal insulation performance, while the 5.5 cm version is thinner, lighter, and easier to install without occupying too much cargo space.
Features of Standard Insulated Bulkhead
Significant Energy Savings
By greatly reducing the workload of the refrigeration unit (or heating system), the insulated bulkhead allows the system to reach the set temperature faster and reduces frequent start-stop cycles. This results in significant fuel or electricity savings and effectively lowers overall operating costs.
Extended Service Life of Refrigeration Equipment
The thermal partition provides a stable operating environment for the refrigeration system, reducing long periods of high-load operation. This helps minimize equipment wear and tear, extends the service life of key components such as the refrigeration unit, and reduces maintenance frequency and costs.
Effective Cargo Protection
It prevents cargo deterioration, spoilage, or melting caused by external temperature fluctuations. At the same time, it helps avoid condensation inside the vehicle, which could otherwise wet packaging materials. This significantly reduces cargo damage rates and ensures transportation safety and customer satisfaction.
High Thermal Insulation Performance
According to Easylink data, the front compartment can be pre-cooled to -25°C within 10 minutes. During 48 hours of stable operation, the front compartment remains at -25°C, while the rear compartment maintains a stable temperature above 10°C, achieving a temperature difference of up to 35°C between zones.

Door-in-door design insulated bulkhead
This design addresses a major pain point in traditional cold chain transportation, where frequent opening of the main door leads to significant loss of cold air.
When only a small amount or small-sized cargo needs to be accessed, the “door-in-door” can be opened independently to complete the operation. This minimizes the opening area and cold air leakage, significantly reduces the energy consumption and workload of the refrigeration unit, and achieves efficient energy savings.

Thickness Options: The product is available in two thickness options: 8.5 cm and 5.5 cm. The 8.5 cm version offers stronger thermal insulation performance, while the 5.5 cm version features a thinner and lighter structure, making installation easier and reducing occupied space inside the vehicle.
Front & Rear Dual-Connection Straps: The front and rear dual-direction connection straps allow two panels to be securely connected into an integrated structure, making the small door’s opening and operation more convenient and efficient.
Soft Connection Strap for Small Door: The soft connection strap is specially designed for refrigerated trucks’ small doors. It uses a flexible fabric connection system that enables easy opening and closing, achieving a balance between durability and operational convenience.
Windproof Fabric: A windproof fabric is applied inside the small door sealing area to prevent incomplete closure and reduce air leakage caused by wind pressure, ensuring better sealing performance and maintaining stable insulation efficiency.
Features of the Door-in-door design insulated bulkhead
Door-in-Door Design
The insulated bulkhead features an innovative “door-in-door” structure. In daily use, small items can be accessed without opening the main door. This reduces air exchange between the refrigerated zone and the external environment, significantly lowering energy consumption. It is ideal for cold storage, constant temperature workshops, and frequent access scenarios.
Precision CNC Cutting Process
Customized for 4.2-meter refrigerated trucks, the panels are precisely cut using professional CNC machining equipment. Dimensional accuracy is controlled within 2mm, ensuring a perfect fit with the truck body. This design reduces heat leakage rate by up to 95%.
Integrated Composite Panel with High Compressive Strength
The insulated bulkhead is made from integrated composite panels without splicing gaps, eliminating potential leakage risks. The panel has a compressive strength of over 500 kPa. Since its launch three years ago, there have been no breakage or quality issues reported.
Lightweight Design for Easy Handling
With a weight of approximately 4–5 kg per square meter, the panel is easy to lift, install, and handle. The lightweight structure reduces labor intensity for operators and makes installation more efficient, allowing drivers and installers to work with ease and comfort.

Insulated Bulkhead – Equipped with Temperature-Controlled Fan and Aluminum Alloy Gravity Louvers
- Standard configuration includes a temperature-controlled fan and aluminum alloy gravity louvers. An intelligent temperature sensor monitors temperature changes in real time and automatically regulates airflow circulation.
- For example, if the rear compartment temperature must not exceed 5°C and must not drop below 0°C:
- During initial operation, when the temperature probe detects that the rear compartment temperature is above 0°C, the temperature control switch activates the fan until the temperature reaches 0°C, at which point the fan stops immediately. When the temperature rises above 5°C, the temperature control system will activate the fan again, running it until the temperature returns to 0°C, and then stop the fan

Dual 80W Temperature-Controlled Fans: The system allows you to set both the stop temperature (minimum) and the start temperature (maximum) based on the required temperature range of the rear compartment. The two fans operate automatically: the left fan functions as air intake, while the right fan provides air exhaust, ensuring efficient air circulation.
Anti-Backflow Gravity Louvers: Once the target temperature is reached and the fans stop, the gravity louvers prevent disordered circulation of hot and cold air, helping maintain more precise temperature control in the rear compartment.
Waterproof Aviation Connectors: Waterproof aviation connectors are used between electrical wires to ensure safe and reliable power connections.
Waterproof Switch: After connecting to an external battery, a waterproof switch can be installed outside the vehicle body. Power can be turned on after loading is completed, effectively preventing cold air loss from the front compartment and avoiding battery drain caused by prolonged loading time.
